Dollar Mountain - Sun Valley

Dollar Mountain, home of the first ski lift in the US? (Developed by James Curran of Union Pacific's engineering department in Omaha, Nebraska, the first known ski chairlift was installed on Proctor Mountain, approximately two miles east of Bald Mountain in Sun Valley, Idaho in 1936. The single chair lift was a great improvement over the cable car type toboggan and/or the J-bar, which were the basic modes of moving skiers up the hill prior to that time.)

A fitting host for the 2009 Special Olympic World Games Snowboard competition. Way to go Watkins with a gold medal!

And way to to GG! Had a great day in the Elkhorn bowl right outside back door teaching Penny to ski and you were a big help. Cool green outfit, by the way. And what outfit wouldn't be complete without a fancy scarf? I like the story behind these blue and white wonders. The Olympic planning committee petitioned USA knitters to contribute 2500 scarves for the athletes and ended up receiving over 67,0000 from Grannies and teenagers the world over. Each hand knitted scarf is a little different!
